Accreditation Update

The appeal meeting concerning Northpoint’s loss of accreditation was held on April 24, 2026.  Northpoint received a letter from The Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, notifying us that the appeal committee upheld the Commission’s earlier withdrawal of accreditation.

The effective date of loss of accreditation is April 24, 2026.  There are two relevant notes to this date.  The first is accreditation is extended until May 10, 2026, for currently enrolled students.  All coursework completed during the Spring 2026 semester and the degrees granted at Commencement on May 9, 2026, are accredited. The second note is that based on the approved teach-out plan with The Association for Biblical Higher Education, three undergraduate and three graduate students are granted permission to complete their degree requirements by August 31, 2026. Accreditation is extended then until August 31, 2026, for these six students only.

Under the leadership of President Tiff Shuttlesworth, Northpoint is not closing. Northpoint is moving to a new model of ministerial preparation consisting of a one-year online certificate in Theology and Ministry and a three-year ninety-hour diploma with various concentrations such as Bible, evangelism, eschatology, pastoral ministry, next-gen ministry, apologetics, and missions. As well, Northpoint is working towards entering into articulation agreements cooperating institutions so Northpoint students can earn a baccalaureate degree if they so desire.  Specifics about this new model of ministerial preparation will be announced throughout the summer.
