Peace is found in the Savior…and nothing else!

Today is the day! One of the few days a year that brings excitement, wonder, and joy to our hearts. Christmas can mean many things to many people, but for us, it reminds us of the day that would change everything for the rest of history.

Remember: Peace is found in the Savior…and nothing else!

Isaiah 62: 6-12 prepares us for something bigger than ourselves. Many times, we get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the Christmas season, and we begin to prepare for the wrong reasons. Isaiah helps us to understand that there is a future salvation that is bigger than us and that salvation can be had only through the Messiah Jesus Christ. What if we stopped and realized what we were doing? We can become programmed to what the world portrays as the reason for the season when Christ is all that matters. Isaiah 62:11-12 states, “Behold, the Lord has proclaimed to the end of the earth: Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.’ Moreover, they shall be called The Holy People, The Redeemed of the Lord…” (ESV). The reward in Christmas is Jesus Christ, and He is the one that ultimately brings peace!

Remember: Peace is found in the Savior…and nothing else!

Psalm 97 reminds us of something so uplifting, yet so humbling: The Lord reigns. No matter what season it is in our lives, each season holds a unifying factor: God reigns in every situation; and in the moments that we experience setbacks, we can remember that God is in control. The psalmist in Psalm 97:1 rejoices, “The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad!” Peace can be found when we know that the Lord reigns above all. Nothing can substitute the peace of God because of what it can give to us!

Once again: Peace is found in the Savior…and nothing else!

Titus 3:4-7 shows us the peace we have through hope in Jesus Christ.  Goodness, love, and kindness was shown through a baby who humbly entered  an evil and lost world. However, God, in His mercy and goodness, found a way for us to live in the hope that Jesus brought.

We finally come to the moment in Luke chapter 2 – the birth of Jesus Christ. The news of the Savior instilled in the Magi a joy that couldn’t be explained. What mankind needed so desperately for so long, what was prophesied throughout the Old Testament, came to pass.

Today, on Christmas before you do anything else, take the time to reflect on the peace that God supplies us without end in Jesus. While it is true that Jesus came to put an end to sin and its penalty once and for all, His coming into the world has accomplished so much more than that! Jesus’ coming has given us peace with God that cannot be undone. God has purposed from the beginning to restore us to Himself by His plan and power. The prophecies of the Old Testament that are fulfilled in Christ’s coming give us confidence and peace that God is who He says He is and that God does what He says He will do. For those of us who are in Christ, our peace is doubly sure. We not only have the peace of God with us right now, but also we have the peace that comes from knowing that nothing at all, not even death, can separate us from the love of God that is ours in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Luke 2:14—“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”

Peace will ALWAYS be found in the Savior born in Bethlehem.
